Jody Smith. Artist, Photographer

Jody grew up in the in the Pacific Northwest, and was born in Spokane WA.  She loved to draw and paint her whole life and has developed her skills as an artist through the years.
Jody took art classes in High School and College. She was in the Art program at B.Y.U.  and has  continued her education in art by taking classes from local artist in the area. When Jody was a young mother she dedicated a lot of her time to her family, but she continued to do paintings, teach art in her kid’s school and take an art classes when she could fit it in. Jody is now a grandmother of 5 beautiful grand babies.

Statement by the artist: I find most everything around me an inspiration for painting, I love to find the beauty in life where ever I go. 
I have lived in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho, but I have returned to the Pacific Northwest and have lived here for the last 15 years in Vancouver. I have always been drawn to the NW beauty and country side and love to paint landscapes of places I have been to.  My lifestyle is filled with adventures by going hiking, bicycling, kayaking, snowshoeing, or walking with my boxer Noel.  I usually bring my camera, or sketch pad and will take pictures, and do drawings of the places I visit.
I have worked with oils, acrylics and the last few years, soft pastels.   I also use handmade pastel paper for a unique ragged edge look. I’m constantly developing my style and look to improve my technique. The North West is my home and I look forward to doing many more paintings of the local landscapes and paintings of everyday life here.​nd has developed her skills as artist through the years.
